Graduate Students Learn Precision Machining

Graduate students in Professor Garth Simpson’s research group have been learning precision machining methods. Purdue Chemistry machinist Randy Replogle is teaching basic drilling, reaming, shaping, and lathing techniques.
The students learn layout, measurement, and tooling by creating aluminum dice and a threaded key fob with knurled grip, as well as drilling, countersinking, and tapping methods.
